On the occasion of International Earth Day, the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure has signed the decision to establish the Task Force to protect the environment in the country. The Minister of MESP, Liburn Aliu has emphasized that this action will reduce plastic waste.

"Today we signed the decision to establish the Green Task Force, which is an important action related to the protection of the environment in our country. This Task Force is being created as a separate and temporary structure in MMPHI and will deal with improving the level of protection for rivers, reducing plastic waste, improving and managing national parks and taking action against environmental degradation.

We have been preparing for the establishment of this Task Force for more than a month and today, after signing this decision, we expect to hold a meeting within the week to approve the agenda of concrete actions, which will begin immediately. The month of May will be busy with activities in which the inspectorates of these ministries, the Kosovo Police, will be involved, and concrete measures will be taken against degraders everywhere in our country", said Aliu.


The Deputy Minister of Environment, Jeton Raka has announced that this Task Force will protect rivers and national parks and reduce plastic waste.

"The objectives of the Task Force will be the protection of rivers, national parks and the reduction of plastic waste, that is, the prohibition of illegal quarrying, the prohibition of illegal activities in national parks, especially in strict areas and intervention in these areas, as well , in the reduction of plastic bag waste, we will add controls and inspections to plastic bag manufacturers, identification of illegal landfills and their treatment in cooperation with the relevant municipalities. "In a word, we will have zero tolerance towards all those who degrade the environment", said Raka.

On the other hand, the director of the Kosovo Police for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, Jasip Krasniqi, said that the creation of this Task Force is an additional opportunity for raising prevention and control to a higher level in cooperation with other institutions.

"We see the creation of the Task Force as an additional opportunity to raise the prevention of these phenomena related to the environmental climate to a higher level in cooperation with other institutions", said Krasniqi.
