Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi, in "Debat në Shenja" spoke about the minimum wage and the methods of its calculation. Durmishi emphasized that they will not make a decision under pressure, and warned that in March 2026, the minimum wage will increase from 1500 to 2000 denars, depending on the numbers that will come out of the calculation.
Durmishi emphasized that the law provides that the minimum wage is determined by the average wage, as well as living expenses.
"When the Law is harmonized in March next year, based on the parameters we have, citizens will have higher minimum wages. There is a formula and methodology with which the minimum wage is calculated and which are agreed upon by the Economic and Social Council, unions, employers and the government."
"Based on that formula, it is clearly defined how the minimum wage is calculated, i.e. 50 percent of the average net wage of the previous year, which means 2025, and 50% of the cost of living. Since we are at the end of the calendar year, we have data for the past 11 months and when the minimum wage is harmonized in March, the minimum wage will increase by approximately 1500 to 2000 denars, depending on how the calculation or numbers turn out," said Durmishi.
