An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the wider Zadar region yesterday, but according to information so far, there are no reports of injured people or significant material damage, the Civil Protection Directorate announced.

Seismographs of the Seismological Service of the Republic of Croatia recorded the earthquake at 18:43, with the epicenter 15 kilometers northeast of Starigrad Paklenica.

The intensity of the earthquake at the epicenter was VI degrees according to the EMS scale and the tremors were felt in a wide area of ​​Dalmatia, Lika and even in some parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


According to the director of the Paklenica National Park, the epicenter of the earthquake was at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level, above the Paklenica mountain house.

As a result of the earthquake, the church tower in Pag has moved, writes index.hr.

Due to the risk of parts of the tower falling, the surrounding area has been cordoned off. A detailed inspection of the tower is expected to be carried out, along with other safety measures.
