Duchess Meghan's father admitted to intensive care after emergency surgery

Duchess of Sussex Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, was admitted to the intensive care unit after undergoing emergency surgery.
The Duchess's brother, Thomas Markle Jr., confirmed that their father was taken to hospital and underwent surgery after falling ill at his home in the Philippines on Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported.
Thomas, 81, will later undergo another procedure to remove a blood clot.

"I took my dad to a hospital near our house and they did some scans; the doctors said his life was in danger," Thomas Jr., 59, told the newspaper.
"They sent us by ambulance, with sirens blaring, to a much larger hospital in the city center."
Thomas' 61-year-old daughter, Samantha, claimed that the cause of his illness was due to the difficulties he has experienced in recent years.
"He's a strong man, but he's been through a lot. I'm praying he has the strength to get through this," she told the Daily Mail.
"My father has had two heart attacks and a stroke. I hope he can make it through this time too."
