Drum duet between Japanese and South Korean leaders concludes summit talks

A surreal drum duet between two East Asian world leaders has set the internet ablaze and put the spotlight on diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea.
Wearing matching blue jackets, South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi played drums to the rhythm of K-pop hits on Tuesday - including "Dynamite" by BTS and "Golden" from the hit KPop film Demon Hunters.
The performance, a memoir of Takaichi's past life as a drummer in a heavy metal band, concluded Lee's official visit to Japan this week.
It is also part of Lee's diplomatic overtures to regional powers, including Japan, with which South Korea has a tense history but shares a security alliance.
Tuesday's drumming session, which Lee described as "a little clumsy," has now gone viral, the Telegraph reports.
During Lee's visit to Takaichi's hometown of Nara, he presented the Japanese prime minister with a drum set. The two leaders also exchanged signed drum sticks after their performance. /Telegraph/
