Donald Trump's tariffs increase the price of jerseys - the amount will shock you

US President Donald Trump's new tariff policy will affect football fans when they buy jerseys.
On Wednesday, a date he called "Liberation Day," Trump announced a series of reciprocal tariffs that will be imposed on countries around the world.
The reason behind the drastic move, the White House claims, is to 'strengthen the United States' international economic position and protect American workers' – although there have been concerns about whether it will end up that way.
There have also been questions about the tariff calculations, with the BBC reporting that US stocks fell by the most since 2020 following Trump's announcement.
The exact impact on manufacturers and consumers will likely not be fully known for some time, but for sports fans, there is already an indication.
Most official jerseys are at least partially manufactured in Asia, where Trump has implemented heavy tariffs.
Bangladesh, for example, is a major exporter of soccer jerseys, but has had a 37 percent reciprocal tariff imposed by Trump.
China (34 percent), Pakistan (29 percent) and India (26 percent) have also been hit hard, while Vietnam has a 46 percent tariff in place.
Speaking to the BBC, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has revealed how much the fees will affect football fans - and it's not as high a sum as you might think.
"For a $100 sports jersey sold in the US, production costs are likely to be in the region of $12-15 at source, and possibly even lower."
"So even if there's a 40 percent tariff when the goods are imported into the U.S., that means the jerseys will only cost about $4 more," Maguire said.Telegraph/
