Donald Trump's "leaked peace plan to end the war in Ukraine" revealed – here are some of the details

Donald Trump's "plan" to end Russia's war in Ukraine has reportedly been revealed, ahead of his rumored meeting with Vladimir Putin.

The terms of a possible ceasefire could include stopping Russia's sustained military advance on the battlefield and stopping Ukraine from joining NATO, the British media writes. Metro, the Telegraph reports.

The US proposal is also expected to require Ukraine to accept Russian sovereignty over the annexed land – a concession that Volodymyr Zelensky is unlikely to make.

The Ukrainian president has rejected any suggestion of giving the territory to Russia, while Putin has demanded that Ukraine give up its aspirations to join the military alliance.

By 2025, Russia occupies a fifth of Ukraine, with an estimated 3 to 3.5 million Ukrainians living under occupation.

Reaching a peace deal on his first day in the White House was Trump's main foreign policy, a policy that has not shown any results so far.

This "goal" was later shifted to his first 100 days in office.

His plan – set to be announced at next week's Munich Security Conference – would allegedly see a deal in place by Easter.

A phone call between Zelensky and Putin in early February is expected to kick off the process, followed by a meeting between the two in early March.

A statement on agreed parameters for ending the war would then be issued by May 9, after which Ukraine would be asked not to extend martial law or mobilize troops.

There has been no word from Zelensky's office regarding the speculation, but he has demonstrated a willingness to negotiate with Russia, based on a plan that preserves Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the long term.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry said today that the US should first formulate its policy on ending the war.

Only then can the Kremlin base its position on specific US actions.

Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a press conference in Moscow: "As for the possible role of the US in resolving the crisis around Ukraine, once again: everything will depend on the concrete actions and the plans of the new administration embodied in those actions."

"At the moment there are a lot of words and a lot of statements. (But) there is no clarity about the steps that are being taken (by the US), so it would be premature to talk about the prospects for negotiations or anything at all in this context."

Trump and Keith Kellogg, his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, have both said they are working on a plan to broker a deal to end the three-year massacre, but have yet to reveal full details of what that plan might look like. /Telegraph/
