"Do not accept Trump's offer of 'capitulation'" – is Germany's latest message to Ukraine

Germany has urged Ukraine not to accept Donald Trump's latest peace proposal, calling it akin to "capitulation".
Trump has proposed to Kiev to cede large territories in exchange for a ceasefire with Russia.
And German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that while Ukraine knows it may have to part with some territory, they "should not go as far as the latest proposal from the US president," they write. foreign media, the Telegraph reports.
"Ukraine itself could have received a year ago what was included in that proposal, it is akin to a capitulation. I cannot see any added value," he told German public broadcaster ARD.
Trump's so-called "final offer" includes U.S. recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and unofficial recognition of Russian control of almost all occupied areas as of the 2022 invasion, Axios reported earlier this week.
It would also prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and lift sanctions imposed on Russia since 2014.
His statement comes as the US is considering whether to continue as a mediator, as Marco Rubio has said.
The top US diplomat told Sky's US partner network, NBC News, that "we cannot continue to devote time and resources to this effort if it (peace) is not going to happen."
He said an agreement should be reached soon.
"The last week has really been about understanding how close these parties really are and whether they are close enough that this merits a continued investment of our time as mediators."
However, Rubio did not say how long the Trump administration is willing to wait for a breakthrough. /Telegraph/
