Zakynthos society is shocked by the death of a 2-year-old Albanian boy in the village of Agios Leontas, after he was brutally attacked by the family's Pit Bull dog.
"My little girl called me and I ran fast, that's all I remember. My little boy ran away," the boy's father told Alpha, his voice trembling.
According to information from ERT, the couple, who also have two other children, had gone to buy supplies for the house and when they returned shortly after noon, the little boy escaped attention and went towards the tree where the dog was tied, which attacked him, causing serious injuries.
"The dog was a stray, they had let it go and we took it in because people in the village were shouting that it would eat the animals. I took it so it had a place to stay and it ate my child. The child saw me, smiled at me and closed its eyes," added the child's father.
The child's parents took him to Zakynthos General Hospital, where doctors fought to bring him back to life, but unfortunately they were unable to do so.
The competent authorities have been mobilized to investigate the circumstances of the attack, while the parents are being held in custody.
