Kosovo citizens headed to the ballot boxes on Sunday, October 12, to elect the next mayors in 38 municipalities.

In addition to citizens who voted in Kosovo, persons detained in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague also exercised their right to vote.

This was announced to the Telegraph by the spokesperson of the DHSK, Michael Doyle.

Doyle confirmed that all detainees at this institution who expressed a desire to vote in the local elections on October 12th have had the opportunity to exercise this right.

“DHSK has taken all steps within the scope of its authority so that all detainees in the DHSK detention facility who wish to do so can exercise their right as citizens of Kosovo to vote in the elections,” the response states.

However, the Special Court has not provided information on which of the detainees exercised their right to vote.

"For privacy reasons, we cannot provide information on which detainees voted," Doyle's response states.

Local elections in Kosovo were held on October 12, 2025 and included voting for mayors and municipal assemblies across the country. /Telegrafi/
