Denmark and Germany take a step towards the semi-finals, win over Portugal and Italy 

The first quarterfinal matches of the Nations League A have been held, with Denmark and Germany winning over Portugal and Italy. 

The winners of these two pairs will face off in the semi-finals, with the Danes and Portuguese taking a big step forward. 

Denmark was the better side and could have taken the lead in the first half, but Cristian Eriksen was off target from the penalty spot. 

The game was decided in the second half, when Rasmus Hojlund was accurate after an assist from Skov Olsen that made it 1-0. 

On the other hand, Germany came back to win against Italy with a score of 2-1 in the first match.  

It was Sandro Tonali who scored in the 9th minute, giving Italy the lead. 

As the second half began, Tim Kleindienst scored after an assist from Joshua Kimmich to make the score 1-1. 

In the 76th minute, Germany took the lead, when Kimmich again assisted, this time to Leon Goretzka who scored for 2-1. 

The return matches take place in three days, with Denmark and Germany now in the lead. /Telegraph/
