Delays in the trial of "Banjska" are criticized, it is considered a case of national interest that should be treated with priority

Following the decision of the Court of Appeals which confirmed the indictment in the Banjska case, the Basic Court in Pristina immediately scheduled the court session.

About 5 months after the initial hearing, Vladimir Tolic, Blagoje Spasojevic and Dusan Maksimovic, accused of the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvecan, will return to the courtroom to face justice.

After the Court of Appeals issued a decision confirming the decision to confirm the indictment issued by the Basic Court in Pristina, the latter has scheduled the judicial review session.

The hearing for the three defendants, who are in custody, is scheduled for April 17.

"Referring to your request for information, we inform you that the court hearing in the criminal case against defendants VT, BS and DM has been scheduled to be held on 17.04.2025 at 09:30."

But the family of the sergeant who was killed in the Basnjka attack was not notified of this hearing.

Their lawyer, Arianit Koci, says they have not yet received any notice of the hearing, while saying that the judiciary should treat it as a priority.

"One of the reasons that almost no one in our society is satisfied with the courts is this, you are informed that a hearing has been scheduled, I do not have this information, this is unacceptable, and secondly, I understand that the courts are very busy, but dragging out a matter of national interest because national security has been endangered here is unacceptable..", said Koci.

The three defendants, at the initial hearing held in October last year, pleaded not guilty to the crimes charged by the Special Prosecution.

Meanwhile, the trial of 42 other people remains pending without a direction.

"The Supreme Court has left it to the discretion of the first instance court, the presiding judge, to decide. I am prepared for both options, however, there are measures against those accused who are on the run. They cannot leave Serbia. They do not have a normal life...", added Koci.

In September last year, the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office filed indictments against 45 people, on charges of terrorism, financing of terrorism and other serious criminal offenses.

As the leader of this group that organized the attack that occurred on September 24, 2023, the SPRK charges Milan Radoicic, who is still at large./Dukagjin/
