Defense Industry Agreement, Albania and Italy will build civil and military vessels in Pashaliman

Albania and Italy have signed a historic agreement that paves the way for the construction of military and civilian ships at the Pashalimani naval base. The project is being developed through the creation of a joint venture between the Albanian KAYO and the Italian giant Fincantieri, one of the largest shipbuilders in the world.
Albania will make available the Pashaliman shipyard in the city of Vlora, which will be fully modernized, while Italy will bring the necessary technology, design and expertise.
In the first phase, the joint company is expected to build at least seven ships for the Albanian Navy, while later the aim is to produce ships up to 80 meters long with 800 tons of displacement also intended for export.
Fincantieri will take over the management of the project as the main contractor, while their construction will be carried out by the joint venture in Albania. The project also includes the training of Albanian engineers and workers, creating local capacities for the naval industry and creating new jobs.
The concretization of this cooperation will strengthen the military-maritime supply chain, promote economic and infrastructural development, and open new prospects for international growth./RTSH
