Death toll from protests in Iran rises

The number of people killed in protests in Iran has more than doubled in recent hours, Reuters news agency reports, citing the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
In its latest update, the independent organization said 466 people had died - a huge increase from the previous figure of 203.
HRANA, which relies on fact-checking from activists in Iran, has provided accurate figures in previous rounds of unrest in the Islamic Republic.
Otherwise, people in at least 180 cities across Iran have taken to the streets in recent days to protest against the country's current regime.
Although the demonstrations were initially "extremely beautiful and hopeful" according to one person, authorities violently suppressed those who protested on Friday evening, eyewitnesses said.
The scenes in Iran have been described by witnesses as "chaotic". /Telegraph/
