This year marks 700 years since the death of the greatest Italian writer, Dante Alighieri, the author of the "Divine Comedy", considered the masterpiece of Italian literature and one of the most important of world literature. To honor the memory of the writer Dante Alighieri, the Ministry of Art and Culture in Italy has made available a fund of over two million euros for the realization of a national cultural program that will evaluate his figure, his works, as and the places where he lived.

The linguist, philosopher, poet, writer, politician Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 in Florence, the city that on the first day of 2021, in the "Galleria delgi Uffizzi" museum, officially opened the Dantesque year with the virtual exhibition entitled "To see the stars again ".


For the first time, 88 sketches illustrating the poem "Divine Comedy" made by the painter Federico Zuccari, who is also the author of the frescoes of the Dome of the Florence Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, will be available to visit virtually. The illustrations are among the most important on Dante's work until before the XNUMXth century.

The paintings came into the possession of the Florence museum in 1738, as a gift from Princess Anna Maria Luisa de Medici, the last member of the Florentine Medici dynasty – the protagonist family of Italian and European history in the period from the XV to the XVIII century. Until now, the illustrations were known only to researchers and enthusiasts of Dante's work.

The director of the "Gallerie degli Uffizi", Eike Schmidt, says that "for the first time, the 88 paintings will be exhibited in full and accompanied by a didactic and scientific analysis that will be online for every person".

Alighieri died in Ravenna on the night of September 13-14, 1321, at the age of 56. For researchers, he is also considered the father of the Italian language, since its fame and spread in the world had the "Divine Comedy" as its starting point. /oranews/
