"Daddy" caused a lot of reactions - Rutte clarifies the statement about Trump

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has clarified the statement that sparked public reactions and comments after he referred to US President Donald Trump as "daddy".
At the Munich Security Conference, Rutte admitted that the use of the term was the result of insufficient command of the English language.
"I said, 'Yeah, daddy has to be tough sometimes.' Then I realized that the word 'daddy' has many connotations," he said.
According to the NATO chief, the situation took an ironic turn from the American side itself. Rutte said the phrase was printed on T-shirts and even included in a video, where Trump, after returning from the summit held in The Hague, is heard saying "daddy is home."
"That's how it came about. It wasn't intentional, but now I'm living with it. It's become a fact of life," Rutte declared, underlining that the American leader is "a fun guy with a lot of humor."
The statement has been widely circulated on social media and international media, sparking debates over the tone and symbolism used in political communication among NATO allies. /Telegraph/
