Croatian man thought he was investing in cryptocurrencies, had over 100 euros stolen

A 68-year-old Croatian man from Vrbanja had over 100 euros stolen from him by a "cryptocurrency manager".

Police have received a report from a 68-year-old man from Vrbanja who, believing he was cooperating with a cryptocurrency manager, deposited over 100 euros into the account of an unknown person.

According to the Vukovar and Srijem police report, the man had registered on a social media page in early February with the aim of trying to recover money lost from cryptocurrency trading.

Soon, he was contacted by a person who presented himself as a cryptocurrency manager and promised him additional profits. By deceiving him, he convinced him to make several money transfers to different bank accounts.

The total amount he has paid exceeds 100 thousand euros, reports index.hr.

The police have launched a criminal investigation to identify the perpetrator of the fraud, against whom a criminal report will be filed with the competent prosecutor's office, the police statement said. /Telegraph/
