"Crime has no religion, nation or principle": The murder of Sergeant Lika, the topic of Friday's lecture at the mosque
The Chief Imam of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Vedat Sahiti, delivered the Friday sermon today at the Bled Mosque in Pristina.

In all mosques in Kosovo, this Friday, part of the Friday sermon was dedicated to the murder of Kosovo Police Sergeant Muhamed Lika.

At the recommendation of Mufti Naim Tërnava, the Islamic Community of Kosovo (IBK) included this topic in its weekly lecture to strongly condemn the act and demand justice for the victim.

BIK emphasized that this murder has struck not only public order and security, but also the moral foundations of Kosovar society. The sermon emphasized that attempts to justify the crime through religious narratives are deeply dangerous and unacceptable.

"The murder of a senior Kosovo Police official and former KLA soldier, Muhamed Lika, is a shocking and reprehensible act. Attempts to link this crime to the Islamic religion constitute strategies that have been used by criminal groups around the world and cannot be tolerated in our society," the lecture distributed by BIK states.

BIK called on believers to distance themselves from any instrumentalization of religion and to support justice institutions in solving the case.

"Crime has no religion, nation, or principle. It is the duty of everyone – institutions, civil society, and citizens – to unmask those who try to hide behind religious values to conceal their atrocities," the sermon emphasized.

BIK: Support for institutions, the best way to seek justice

BIK appealed to avoid speculation and self-investigation, as any attempt to influence outside the official framework jeopardizes the investigative process and the discovery of the truth.

"Early statements and attempts to give religious motives to the crime only serve its perpetrators. We invite everyone to follow only official information and support institutions that have a mandate for justice."

At the end of the lecture, the Islamic Community of Kosovo once again condemned the murder and expressed its most sincere condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of police officer Lika, calling for such crimes to never be repeated in our country.
