Constitutional Court blocks law on confiscation of assets, Minister of Justice reacts harshly

Acting Minister of Justice, Blerim Sallahu, has reacted after receiving the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding the Draft Law on the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, describing the process as delayed and harmful to the fight against corruption.
In a Facebook post, Sallahu announced that the verdict was received after one year and 28 days, exceeding, according to him, the legal deadlines. He emphasized that the Constitutional Court has found procedural violations during the approval of the draft law in the Assembly, for which the law must be returned for reconsideration and approval.
Sallahu has deemed it unacceptable to hold up such an important law for more than a year for procedural reasons, calling this action illegal, unprofessional, and unethical.
According to him, such delays violate the constitutional powers of the Government and the Assembly in the process of adopting laws and harm institutional efforts to combat crime and corruption, especially of public officials.
However, the acting Minister of Justice has expressed his belief that, despite the obstacles, the process of confiscating unjustified assets will begin this year. /Telegraph/
