Collective housing in the north built by Serbia will be legalized

Kosovo Police in Zubin Potok closed several buildings financed without permits in Kosovo that had not yet begun to be inhabited, while others in the north of the country are not being intervened since they are inhabited, however, municipal inspectors are expected to visit them to legalize them.

Over 100 apartments in the center of Zubin Potok cannot be used simply because they are financed directly by Serbia, and do not have a construction permit in Kosovo.

Their goal is to fill it with Serbian citizens who do not have housing, or who come to live in Kosovo.

And there are such buildings almost throughout the north of the country.

There are dozens of such in North Mitrovica alone, most of them located in the Bosniak Neighborhood.

The Municipal Assembly of this city is also informed of their existence, and they say that their legalization will begin soon.

"We discussed it in the municipal assembly, and soon the inspectorate is expected to come out, where they will be legalized," said the assemblyman in the Municipality of North Mitrovica, Betim Osmani.

There are also such buildings in the village of Grabovc in Zveçan.

As can be seen in the picture there, people normally live in 3 collective buildings.

The Mayor of the Municipality, Ilir Peci, said that he does not have time this week to talk about this issue.

However, the Deputy Director of Police for the northern region, Veton Elashni, explains why they decided to intervene only in these uninhabitable apartments.

"Those buildings are habitable, and we have not intervened, the municipalities and municipal inspectorates will deal with them," said Elshani.

The television learned that the collective buildings that have been financed by the Government of Serbia have so far been given free of charge to citizens of the Serbian community, and that they would become their property after 5 years of residence in them.
