Çitaku: We will request a Resolution for the process in The Hague, in the first session after the constitution, together with international agreements

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, in the first working session of the 10th legislature of the Assembly, which according to them will be held on Thursday, will also demand a vote on the resolution prepared by independent experts, in defense of the leaders of the KLA and the dignity of our liberation war, in addition to international agreements.
This was emphasized by the deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku and Përparim Gruda, at a press conference before the start of the constitutive session of the Assembly.
Çitaku said that the liberators who are being tried in The Hague must have a state that protects them with law, institutions, and a clear political voice.
"Tomorrow, in the first working session of this Assembly, we will demand that, in addition to international agreements, the resolution prepared by independent experts, already deposited in the Assembly, be voted on in defense of the leaders of the KLA and the dignity of our liberation war," Çitaku emphasized.
She called on all Parliamentary Groups to support this resolution, just as they decided yesterday by consensus to postpone the Assembly session to 17:00 PM, as a sign of respect for the liberators, who are facing the final phase of the process in The Hague.
"Our state is stronger when it stands united in defense of its history. Therefore, starting today, I invite all parliamentary groups to support this resolution of independent professionals tomorrow," she said, according to a PDK press release.
Meanwhile, MP Përparim Gruda Përparim Gruda has elaborated on this resolution and its content.
"The resolution first of all requires the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor's Office to bring the process in The Hague against the former KLA leaders back on track with European standards for a fair and impartial trial, and the standards set by the Constitution of Kosovo, the European Convention on Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the practice or jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and Freedoms. Second, the resolution also requires the Ombudsperson or People's Advocate located at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague to play its role, which we believe has been ignored so far, to address all violations that occurred during the trial process of the KLA leaders. Also, another point of this resolution, which I want to share with you, is the request from the countries funding the Special Court to ensure that their funding is directed to a body that implements European standards for a fair trial. "So, to hold the Specialist Chambers accountable and demand responsibility so that the process remains fair and independent, just as the judicial process is in every country that funds the Specialist Court," he said.
