Chelsea put the most expensive defender in the club's history on sale

Chelsea are open to selling defender Wesley Fofana during the summer transfer window, despite new manager Enzo Maresca being a fan of him.

According to The Telegraph, the decision is related to the long history of injuries that have hampered the French center-back since his transfer in 2022.

Fofana was signed from Leicester City for €80 million, becoming Chelsea's most expensive defender in history, but has only made 34 appearances for the club since then.

He has missed over 105 games due to various injuries, becoming a serious concern for the club.

This season alone, the defender has played in 14 games in all competitions, raising doubts about his long-term sustainability.

Chelsea could accept a good offer, especially from Saudi Arabia, where interest in players from Europe continues to be high.

A hefty offer could convince the London club to let the 23-year-old defender go this summer. /Telegraph/
