The election campaign for the repeated local elections for mayors in the municipalities of Gostivar, Mavrovo Rostuša, Vrapčisht and Qendër Zhupë has begun, which will be held immediately after the New Year and Christmas holidays on January 11, 2026.

The election campaign began on December 22 at midnight and lasts until January 9, when the silence before the vote begins.

The candidates for mayor of Gostivar are Nevzat Bejta, as the candidate of the VLEN coalition, and Valbon Limani from AKI.

In Vrapçishtë, the candidates for mayor are Isen Shabani from AKI and Zuljhajrat Demiri supported by VLEN.

In Qendër Zhupa, there is only one candidate for mayor, Arijan Ibraim from the Democratic Party of Turks.

In Mavrovo and Rostuša, there are two candidates, Oner Jakuposki supported by the "Your Macedonia" Coalition led by OBRM-PDUKM and Anes Ahmeti, the SDSM candidate.

The mayoral elections in these four municipalities are being repeated because there was not enough census in the 2025 Local Elections. /Telegraph/
