Magnificent Bugatti aerodynamics – with "only" 300 horsepower, it can reach over 400 km/h

Eight litres, 16 cylinders, four turbines and up to 1001bhp were needed to push Bugatti's Veyron past the 400km/h mark, the MG EX181 did the same in 1959 with just a powerful 300bhp engine.

And to make things even more interesting, MG installed a standard 1.5 69bhp engine in their car and then boosted it.

Thus, power rises to 304 hp, which is on par with today's Golf R. However, what makes this experimental car special is its aerodynamics. The coefficient of attraction is only 0.12.

By comparison, the Mercedes EQS, acclaimed for its first-class aerodynamics, has a drag coefficient of 0.20.

The concept test vehicles of the Japanese brand Daihatsu achieved 0.17, which allowed them to travel 72 km on one liter of fuel!

Because of such good aerodynamics, this car only needs 29 horsepower to reach 160 km/h. Phil Hill, former Formula 1 champion, reached a record speed of 409 km/h in it.

At one time, he said the car was so aerodynamic that taking your foot off the gas pedal would only slow the car down a bit. /Telegraph/
