A British father of four is turning a business into a huge fortune by collecting dog poop - a side job he estimates brings in over $32,000 a year.

"We were amazed, the customers just started coming," Kyle Newby, 39, told South West News Service about his disgusting job, reports the Telegraph.

The Derbyshire-based builder said he was inspired to start the business, called Pet Poo Pick, in March after "looking at Instagram" at work and seeing "how popular dog poo picking was" in the US.

"It's really big in America, so we thought we'd try it and bring it to the East Midlands. We've only seen a few people doing it in the UK, so we went on Facebook and posted an advert and left it for a while," the Briton recalled.

Of course, his post sparked a lot of interest, and the professional poop collector now has a base of 35 regular clients.

"I have 15 clients on Wednesday, 20 on Saturday," said Newby, who charges $40 for the initial visit and $20 per week thereafter.

As a result, the Briton estimates he earns around $2,680 a week working as a garbage collector, which equates to almost $60 an hour.

Newby estimates he can earn more picking up trash than he can on a 10-hour construction shift - although the work, as one might imagine, can be quite dirty.

"When you think about it, you're collecting about 14 pieces of poop per garden. We use a scoop and a bag. It takes 10-15 minutes per garden," Newby said.

After removing the animal manure, the excrement cleaner disinfects the area to ensure that no traces are left behind.

"I can drive for about four hours a day and I can spend almost three hours picking up animals," said Newby, who has driven up to 50 miles to remove dog poop. /Telegraph
