British choir enters Guinness Book of Records

A British choir of 17 people with an average age of 94 has been officially declared the world's oldest choir by Guinness World Records..

The choir, called the Prime Timers, consisted of 17 members aged between 87 and 99 when they took the stage for their Christmas concert on December 19.

A representative from Guinness World Records was in the audience and confirmed after the performance that the group broke the record for the oldest choir.


The singers were all residents of seven care homes managed by Runwood Homes, based in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The concert at the Crowne Plaza Hotel's Grand Ballroom also featured singer Tony Christie, who joined the choir for performances of "Amarillo" and "Silent Night." /Telegraph/
