Pedagogue and journalist Zylyftar Bregu commented on the joint meeting of the governments of Albania and Italy, which was held with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Bregu emphasizes that the meeting, described by Prime Minister Edi Rama as "a historic day" in bilateral relations, is a positive step with symbolic and political importance, but which, according to him, requires more transparency.

"The joint meeting of the two governments is important and positive in the symbolism of the strategic relations between the two countries. Italy is an important economic partner, an advocate in Albania's integration into the EU. Italy has an interest in Albania being stable, economically strong and not having social trauma because it endangers itself. It has an interest in fighting organized crime because it can be exported there.

I think there are not 15 or 16 agreements, there are only 6, the rest are memoranda and protocols.

"Agreements need transparency because we need to see how this agreement interferes with Albania's relations with NATO," he said.

Bregu also added that deepening cooperation with Italy in the field of defense could "spark jealousy" in relations with Greece.

"If the agreement with Italy increases our independence in the field of defense, it could cause jealousy in the other neighbor, which is Greece. There is a need for transparency about what we gain and what we risk from these agreements," Zylyftar Bregu said on A2 CNN.
