Breel Embolo victim of attempted robbery, goes after thieves

Rennes striker Breel Embolo was the subject of an attempted robbery at his home on Saturday evening, just hours after his team's 3-1 defeat to Lens in Ligue 1.
According to Le Parisien sources within the French police, the incident took place at the Swiss international's residence and targeted a luxury vehicle parked on his property, worth reportedly several hundred thousand euros.
The suspects attempted to steal the vehicle, but the exact circumstances of the break-in are still under investigation.

Embolo, who has scored five league goals this season, is reported to have tried to follow the perpetrators as they fled the scene.
In his statement to authorities, the attacker also revealed that a similar robbery attempt had occurred just four days earlier.
The suspected perpetrators remain at large, while police have launched investigations to fully unravel the case. This incident adds to concerns about the safety of professional footballers in France, as several players have been the target of robberies or similar attempts in recent months. /Telegraph/
