Blocking the constitution of the Assembly, President Osmani ready for consultations with political party leaders

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has expressed her full willingness to hold consultations with the leaders of political parties, at any time they deem necessary, to find a solution that would lead to the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo.

President Osmani's media advisor, Bekim Kupina, said that "President Osmani, through a letter addressed to the chairman of the session, Mr. Avni Dehari, on April 16, has already offered party representatives the opportunity for meetings, expressing full readiness for consultations whenever they deem it necessary."

This initiative comes within the framework of efforts to guarantee the democratic functioning of institutions and to build consensus on issues of common interest for the country, reports Telegrafi.

Otherwise, MPs failed on Friday (today) for the sixth time in a row in their attempt to constitute the Assembly.

The process has stalled as the winning party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, is failing to secure the necessary votes for its candidate for Speaker of the Assembly.

Albulena Haxhiu, for the fourth time, received only 57 votes, out of at least 61 votes needed to be resolved.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) has reacted to the situation created in the Kosovo Assembly, describing the repeated process of sessions every 48 hours as an absurd cycle without political reflection and without concrete results.

KDI called on the President of the Republic to take concrete steps by inviting the leaders of parliamentary political parties to a joint meeting to discuss possible solutions to overcome the institutional blockade.

"The President, according to the Constitution, has the responsibility to guarantee the constitutional functioning of institutions. In a situation when the highest representative institution is paralyzed, her commitment is not only justified, but necessary," concludes the KDI's response.

The constitutive session will continue on April 27 at 10:00./Telegraph/
