Blinken will meet with the Turkish foreign minister to discuss Syria

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will travel to Ankara, Turkey, to discuss the situation in Syria with his Turkish counterpart, Reuters news agency reports.

Turkey has hosted a large number of Syrian refugees since the start of the civil war in 2011, Telegraph reports.

"Any attack on the freedom of the Syrian people, the stability of the new administration and the integrity of its lands will find us standing against it," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.

Blinken's meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan comes after Bashar al-Assad's regime was toppled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham rebels.
