The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said that if he comes to power, he will restore the flat tax to the 10 percent rate and reduce the Value Added Tax to 15 percent.
"We consider an emergency intervention vital, a real revolution in the economy with which we believe we will mark a radical turning point. First, we are and remain committed to business for a new real fiscal revolution. A flat tax of 10 percent will be imposed," Rama writes.
"We are for the 10 percent tax, the tax of centuries and millennia of humanity. It has been proven as the fairest tax, it has been proven as a tax that gives breath to the economy. We experimented with it in 2005 and not only did we not have a decrease in income, but we had a doubling," said Berisha in his speech at the meeting of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Business Associations.
"But, the 10 percent tax will remain a trigger for all other taxes. We will progressively reduce the social security obligation. We were moving towards it and it was absolutely a very fair move. I cannot say that this will be done in the first 100 days, but this will be done indisputably. VAT is no longer taboo. It will be reduced to 15 percent with the aim of reducing it even lower. I cannot believe that the 20 percent is a sacred level and will not be touched. It will be touched, we will reduce it to 15 percent. We used to have 12.5 percent. Now we will reduce it to 15 to see where we can go again," said the chief democrat. /Telegraph/
