Bekim Jashari reacts strongly: A KLA veteran, killed after the war, was reburied in the Martyrs' Complex in the Navy

The former mayor of Skenderaj, Bekim Jashari, reacted to a phenomenon that he considered "a shame that the martyrs never forgive us".

Jashari has accused the mayor and deputy mayor of Skenderaj of burying a person killed after the war in the Martyrs' Cemetery in Marina.

"On the 14th anniversary of the Independence of Kosovo, while we were all celebrating the freedom and independence that our martyrs and martyrs brought us, the current mayor of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura and Vice-President Sami Lushtaku, decided to show their faces desecrating the martyrs, their sublime struggle and sacrifice", wrote Jashari.

"Without the knowledge of the Agency for the Management of Memorial Complexes of Kosovo, nor the Institute of Forensic Medicine, they reburied the remains of one of the KLA veterans, killed after the war, next to the martyrs in the Martyrs' Memorial Complex in the Navy".

He says that despite the fact that the person in question was a veteran of the KLA, it is unacceptable to be buried at the martyrs' cemetery in Marina.

"For the correct information of the public opinion, the person whom the current government of Skenderaj reburied in the Martyrs' Memorial Complex in the Navy, was a former soldier of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the last war in Kosovo, he was unfortunately killed after the war and his killing is in no way related to our holy war".

The former mayor of Skenderaj says that he was also asked to bury the person in question in the martyrs' cemetery when he was mayor, but he did not accept.

"At the beginning of my mandate as mayor of the Municipality of Skenderaj, in 2018, the first thing I did was the reburial of our martyrs, from Polac where their graves were left in a deplorable condition, in the Martyrs' Memorial Complex in the Navy , which years after its construction was neglected by the former governments of these people who had not taken the initiative and responsibility to rebury our martyrs".

"After reburying most of the martyrs from Polac and many villages of our municipality and the surrounding municipalities, as the mayor of the municipality I was faced with such requests for the reburial of KLA veterans who died after the war, including the person in question, to which many individuals, mayors, MPs and even the former Prime Minister Haradinaj had asked me to allow the reburial in the Martyrs' Memorial Complex in the Navy".

"But no, with all due respect to every former KLA soldier, bearing the heavy burden we have as descendants of our martyrs and heroes, I could not accept such a thing, because comparing a martyr with a non-martyr is a shame, it is desecration of the blood of those who brought us our Freedom and Independence".

Jashari has asked the competent bodies to investigate the case as to how "it is possible for such a case to happen in a complex of martyrs which is managed by our institutions and the culprits to be brought to justice".Telegraph/
