Before the match with Albania, Thomas Tuchel calls an England player 'unprofessional'

An England player has claimed that Thomas Tuchel described him as 'unprofessional' after being called up to the Three Lions' squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.

The 51-year-old manager was appointed in charge of the England national team in October 2024, but did not officially take up his new role until January 2025 - although he has yet to take charge of a match.

However, on Friday, March 21, he will finally get to see his players in action when they host Albania at Wembley before returning to the national stadium three days later to face Latvia.

The former Chelsea manager has named some surprise picks in his first team with Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah and Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson two of the unexpected choices.

However, another shock selection has claimed he had to apologise to the England manager after the German claimed it was "unprofessional" that he was up after 22pm.

The player in question is Newcastle United's Dan Burn, who recently received his first international call-up.

"The manager FaceTimed us on Tuesday and said they were debating when they would invite us and would let us know on Thursday," Burn stated during a press conference on Tuesday.

"Then it was six o'clock on Thursday night, I hadn't heard anything, so I told my wife nothing was going to happen. I got a text saying 'are you still awake' at 10. I was like yes, right away."

"First of all, he said I was very unprofessional for not being in bed by 10 o'clock, so I apologized for that," Burn revealed to reporters. /Telegraph/
