Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi plead not guilty to espionage charges

The initial hearing of two people accused of espionage, Bedri Shabani and Muharremi Qerimi, was held today at the Basic Court of Pristina.
During the court session, Shabani and Qerimi pleaded not guilty.
Qerimi, who is also accused of illegal possession of a weapon, has pleaded guilty to this count of the indictment.
The court has approved the plea of guilty, and has notified the parties that they can file objections to the dismissal of the indictment within 15 days, reports Telegrafi.
In February 2025, the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office filed an indictment against Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi for the criminal offense of espionage.
On June 5, 2024, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) and the Police arrested the defendants in Ferizaj.
They are suspected of spying for the Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA).
The prosecution claims that there is evidence that Shabani was also active on the day of the terrorist attack in Banjska, where he met a police officer, to whom he gave irrelevant information and complained that he was constantly giving but not receiving information from the police.
According to the indictment, he also had contact with BIA member and former Ferizaj police chief, Bogolub Janičević, who, according to the prosecution, was involved in the Recak massacre. /Telegraph/
