Bayern have another alternative if Wirtz is not reached

Bayern Munich want to sign an attacking midfielder for next season.

The great German talent Florian Wirtz remains the number one target, however it will not be easy at all to sign him as the competition is high.

Bayern Munich have identified RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons as a potential alternative to Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, according to Sky journalist Philipp Hinze.

"I have dreams and the club knows them. My focus is on the last few games, then on the national team. After that, we'll sit down and see," he said.

Leipzig are not worried, with Sky reporter Philipp Hinze stressing that the club are open to a summer move if an €80m package is met.

Simons' decision depends on Leipzig's squad plans, their future coach, Champions League qualification and interest from top clubs.

Bayern sees the Dutchman as an adequate replacement if Wirtz is not reached, but there is also strong competition from English teams for Simons. /Telegraph/
