Barcelona star wants to take Lewandowski's place in the starting lineup

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick will depend on the depth of his team for the upcoming season.

The Blaugranas are fighting on three fronts, with a small lead at the top of La Liga, while they have secured the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Finding a balance between the demands of these different competitions will be key for Flick, and he is expected to give more minutes to reserve players going forward.

Among those who are willing to get more minutes is Ferran Torres, as part of the plan to manage Robert Lewandowski's minutes.

The 36-year-old is continuing to produce good numbers with 34 goals scored so far this season, but he won't be playing every minute.

Despite limited space, Torres managed to score 11 goals in all competitions in the 2024/2025 season, including five in 2025.

However, the Spanish international has insisted that he is ready to fight the Pole as he aims to take his career to the next level.

"I have confidence in myself and I can be Barcelona's main striker, why not?"

"If the club thinks about looking for someone else, that's fine, but I'm managing my minutes well," Torres said.

The 25-year-old is on track to achieve career-best figures after scoring 13 goals for City in the 2020/2021 season and is undoubtedly expected to play a key role for Hansi Flick going forward.Telegraph/
