Barcelona are expected to lose talented midfielder Dro Fernandez, who will leave the club during this transfer window.

The Spanish-Filipino teenager had begun to make progress with Barcelona's first team this season, but has decided to continue his career elsewhere.

According to Sports and World Sport, Dro will leave the club in January, after communicating to the management that he will activate his release clause of 6 million euros.

The 18-year-old joined Barcelona's academy three years ago and, although the Catalans will benefit financially from this transfer, losing him also represents a significant sporting cost for the future.

Dro had begun training with the first team during the pre-season, while coach Hansi Flick was impressed enough to include him in the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

Of all the La Masia talents who participated in this tournament, he was the player who accumulated the most minutes, also scoring a goal.

Flick was keen to give him regular playing time, and although he has spent more time with the U19 team than with Barça Atlètic, he has made five appearances for the first team this season.

These appearances also include two games as a starter against Olympiakos and Real Sociedad, providing an assist in the first game.

Sporting director Deco had attempted to renew his contract, which expires in just 18 months, but several clubs have expressed a willingness to activate the release clause.

Although Dro has not yet decided which offer he will accept, he has informed the club that he will leave.Telegrafi/
