Barcelona's best-selling jerseys this season – Yamal first, Messi still in the 'top 3'

Barcelona remain keen to bring in as much funding as possible to help with their financial woes, and one way to generate money is through shirt sales. The club is known for having a global fan base and this helps to ensure that merchandise is sold as widely as possible.

Barcelona regularly collects data on who is the biggest seller of first-team shirts.

According to Diario AS, it's no surprise that the number one at the moment is Lamine Yamal, who revealed earlier this week that he will soon sign a new contract, which is expected to keep him at the club until at least 2030.

Behind Lamine Yamal is Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, while number three is a rather interesting player: Lionel Messi. Despite the club icon leaving for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021, fans regularly buy the current season's jersey with his name and number 10 on the back.

As for the current players, it's a battle between Raphinha and Pedro for third place. The Brazilian star is currently slightly ahead, and rightly so given the form he has shown so far this season, but the Spanish midfielder, who has also excelled in recent months, is up there.

Gavi, whose shirt is said to be the most popular among teenagers, is ranked at number five, while Pau Cubarsi is a close second in sixth place.

Next on the list is Frenkie de Jong, who was much higher up before his slump at the start of the season. However, he could soon be on the rise again if he continues to sign a new contract.

The report also highlights that alongside Messi, other historic players whose names are often requested for shirts are Neymar Junior and Andres Iniesta. /Telegraph/
