Barcelona are saying goodbye to a "wonderful talent" and a player beloved by fans

Ansu Fati could feature in Barcelona's final home game of the season as the club prepare to bid farewell to the 22-year-old forward, whose future is far from Camp Nou, according to SPORT. With the La Liga title already secured, the occasion will be a celebration as well as a farewell.
The winger, who returned from a loan spell at Brighton this season, is no longer part of Barcelona's long-term plans. Despite being linked with a move away in January, Ansu rejected several offers, but the Catalan club and his agent, Jorge Mendes, have been working towards a solution since then. As a La Masia player and a fan favourite, his situation remains sensitive within the dressing room and among the fans.
Barcelona's priority is to remove his high salary and free up salary space for new signings. The ideal outcome is a permanent sale - even for a low fee - but the club are open to facilitating his departure in various ways. Ansu is under contract until 2028, and while a free transfer was once considered, his team would only accept him on favourable financial terms.
Among the options being considered is a deal similar to those used for Samuel Umtiti or Clement Lenglet, where the player's contract is extended to reduce the annual wage bill, making a loan or sale more viable for interested clubs. Mendes is currently evaluating offers from several markets.
Ansu's return to Barcelona has not gone according to plan. Coach Hansi Flick initially opened the door to a possible role for him, but by December, the decision had been made not to rely on him. Flick's public criticism has not been well-received by the player's circle, who insist that Ansu is physically fit and ready to contribute.
A long summer awaits him, with interest in the player coming from Spain, Italy, the Bundesliga and clubs in the Middle East. Benfica made contact in January, and Sporting Lisbon are also considering an approach. Barcelona are expected to handle Ansu's case carefully, prioritizing their financial and sporting interests.
The final home game of the season could serve as a farewell for a player once seen as the club's future - a chance to say goodbye before a new chapter begins. /Telegraph/
