Barcelona should soon start thinking seriously about replacing Robert Lewandowski and it appears that these talks have already begun as targets are starting to be identified by the club's sporting department.
Lewandowski will stay at Barcelona for at least one more season as his contract does not expire until the summer of 2026, but at this time, it is almost certain that he will be replaced.
Names like Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres have been mentioned as possible options, but a new name has already emerged on the scene.
Barcelona were previously interested in Julian Alvarez when he was still playing in South America and now Marca has reported that they have revived their interest in the Atletico Madrid striker.
The report adds that Alvarez could be used as a powerful tool during Barcelona's presidential elections, which will begin in 2026.
The Argentina international, who has scored 27 goals in all competitions in his first season for Atletico, is seen as the big name to take Lewandowski's place.
It's worth noting that Barcelona aren't the only club interested in Alvarez, who has also been linked with a return to the Premier League at Liverpool.
Atletico Madrid's stance on the matter is clear: they do not want to sell him, especially since Alvarez will be the man to lead their attack after the departure of Antoine Griezmann.Telegraph/
