Barcelona enter the race and rival Real Madrid for Huijsen

Dean Huijsen has become one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe, with Barcelona the next team to add him to their wish list.

Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Barcelona are closely monitoring Dean Huijsen, the 19-year-old centre-back who impressed for Spain during their Nations League match against the Netherlands.

Born in Amsterdam and raised in Malaga, Huijsen was thrust into the spotlight following Pau Cubarsi's injury and made a strong impression, despite facing criticism from Dutch fans for choosing Spain over the Netherlands.

His excellent ball skills, versatility and solid defensive play have attracted the attention of big clubs, with Barcelona showing interest in signing him.

However, Barcelona have other priorities this summer, which could delay their pursuit of the talented defender.

Huijsen currently plays for Bournemouth in the Premier League, who are expected to demand around €45m for his services, with a €50m release clause valid until 2030.

While Barcelona are keen to strengthen their defence, the club's financial situation and other needs may see them focus on different signings initially.

Despite Barcelona's interest, Huijsen's future remains uncertain, with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham all potentially in the running for him. His desire to play in Spain could play a key role in his decision-making process if he leaves Bournemouth. /Telegraph/
