The Mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, has published a video from the Breg Lumi-Theth road axis, showing that as a result of bad weather, a massive collapse of inert materials has occurred.

According to Mayor Beci, this incident has left 5 vehicles and nine people stranded, while he emphasizes that emergency teams have immediately been put to work to evacuate people and unblock the road. "The Municipality of Shkodra has immediately engaged with all its capacities on the ground, as soon as it was notified of the blockage of 5 vehicles and 9 people on the Breg Lumi - Theth road axis, about 100 meters from the bridge of the village of Gimaj, as a result of the collapse of a mass of inert materials due to bad weather and intense rainfall.

Heavy machinery and tow trucks were immediately put to work to unblock the road, while a specialized civil emergency team headed to the area to assess the situation and intervene with special means to evacuate and guarantee the safety of the trapped people," writes Beci.

Fortunately, the National Civil Protection Agency Team on the ground has confirmed that the residents and families trapped in Nderlysaj (Theth) have been evacuated and there is no longer any danger to their lives. The Municipality of Shkodra has also announced that it is taking measures to clear the roads and restore normality in transportation, as well as to assist citizens affected by this situation created by the difficult weather conditions.

We recall that earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku held a coordination meeting with the National Civil Protection Agency, as part of measures to cope with the situation expected to be created by the bad weather in the coming days.

Balluku identified Shkodër, Fier and Vlora as weak points. Despite the heavy rainfall, she stressed that temperatures are expected to rise and that basins and cascades are under monitoring.

Present at this meeting were Ministers Albana Koçiu, Pirro Vengu and Andis Salla, as well as the Head of Civil Emergencies, Haki Çako.
