The Basic Court in Prizren, General Criminal Department, has imposed security measures against 39 (thirty-nine) defendants, due to the well-founded suspicion that they have committed several criminal offenses.

The pre-trial judge, Fatmir Krasniqi, has imposed a detention order of one (1) month on four (4) defendants: SM, VB, FS and Y.Ç., a measure which may last until February 08, 2026.

According to the court decision:

SM and VB are suspected of having jointly committed the criminal offenses of Continuous Abuse of Trust and Abuse of Economic Authorizations.
VB, together with other defendants, is also suspected of the criminal offense of Forgery of Documents in co-perpetration and in continuity.
FS is suspected of Forgery of Documents and Continuous Breach of Trust.
Y.Ç. is suspected of continuous breach of trust.

Meanwhile, against the other 35 defendants, who are suspected of Abuse of Trust in Assistance, the court has imposed the measure of mandatory reporting to the police station once a week, as well as a ban on approaching a certain place or person, including the injured party BKS and the other defendants. These measures are also valid until February 08, 2026.

The court has warned that failure to comply with these measures will result in the imposition of pre-trial detention for these defendants as well.

According to the court's assessment, there are legal grounds for imposing security measures, as the evidence collected up to this stage provides a reasonable suspicion that the defendants have committed the criminal offenses they are suspected of. The imposition of pre-trial detention on the four defendants was assessed as necessary to prevent escape, influence on witnesses or obstruction of the investigative procedure.

The Basic Court in Prizren has clarified that the decision was made in accordance with Article 162 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, taking into account the fact that the case is considered a complex matter, as it involves more than 10 defendants, specifically 39.
