Ayrton Senna's legendary car goes up for auction, expected to sell for over $12 million

A Formula 1 car driven to victory by Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna will go up for auction in March.
And it is expected to become the most expensive Lotus Cars model ever sold.

It is a 1986 Lotus 98T, in the iconic John Player Special colors, representing the extreme era of turbo engines in F1.

Auction house RM Sotheby's estimates that the car could fetch up to around 12 million US dollars (approximately 11 million euros).
The model was built for the 1986 World Championship and used a 1.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine from Renault, with power reaching 895 kW in qualifying.

With this chassis, Senna secured two wins, five pole positions and three more podiums during the season.
After this year, he moved to McLaren, where he consolidated his status as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history. /Telegraph/
