The National Audit Office (NAO) has published the performance audit report for 2021, on the topic "Prevention and response to emergency situations: Floods".

The audit included the Emergency Management Agency within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Situation Center within the Kosovo Security Council, and the Kosovo Security Force.

At the local level, the audit focused on the municipalities of Gjakova and Vushtrri, selected due to the frequency of natural disasters during the period 2019–January 2021.

The audit findings show that the responsible institutions have not established an effective system for preventing and responding to flood/flood emergency situations. To improve this situation, 11 recommendations have been given to the relevant institutions.

However, implementation of recommendations remains low. Only 37% of the recommendations issued by the NCA for 2023 have been fully implemented, indicating the need for immediate improvements in emergency management. /Telegrafi/
