Aston Martin was the first to get Apple CarPlay Ultra

CarPlay Ultra is the next generation of Apple's in-car interface, and the system is already available on new Aston Martin vehicles in the US and Canada. In the coming weeks, it will be available on all existing models that use the brand's latest multimedia system via an update.

CarPlay Ultra expands on the capabilities of classic CarPlay to deliver the most integrated and personalized iPhone experience yet. The new system displays information across all displays, including the instrument cluster, without compromising the manufacturer's visual style.

Other brands are preparing for this system, including Hyundai, KIA and Genesis. The new visual solutions include the speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, temperature and other indicators, creating a unique and coherent interface. Users will be able to display data from their iPhone (such as navigation or music), as well as information from the car, such as steering assistance systems or tire pressure.

Functions are controlled via the touchscreen, physical buttons and the Siri voice assistant. This covers standard elements such as weather forecasting, changing radio stations, but also more advanced functions such as adjusting the sound or the performance of the gearshift. There is also support for iPhone images, adapted to the size and format of the vehicle's screen.

The new CarPlay Ultra interface covers all screens in the car and supports connection with iPhone 12 and newer, which use iOS 18.5 or later.

CarPlay Ultra gives companies the ability to create interfaces with a branded design that reflects their identity. Apple works with automaker designers to develop visual themes that make the interface more unique and emphasize the character of each model. Users can choose colors and backgrounds to create a design that suits their taste.

CarPlay Ultra is an upgrade to standard CarPlay, which has become part of modern cars, just like Android Auto. Apple emphasizes a high level of data protection, and all the privacy principles implemented in the iPhone also apply to CarPlay Ultra. /Telegraph/
