One of the questions asked of US President Donald Trump outside the White House a short while ago was who he thought should be the new Pope.
Cardinals will gather next week in a secret conclave to elect the new head of the Catholic Church, following the death of Pope Francis.
Smiling as soon as he heard the question, Trump replied, "As Pope? I would like to be Pope. That would be my number one choice," he writes. skynews.
He added that he had no preference for who the new Pope should be, but suggested that Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, could be a good choice.
"I don't know. I don't have a preference. But I have to say we have a cardinal from a place called New York who is very good, so we'll see what happens," he declared.
Otherwise, two names are now mentioned more often than others: Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican's secretary of state, and Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, known for his closeness to Pope Francis' reformist leadership. /Telegraph/
