HamKam, a team playing in Norway's Eliteserien, decided to incorporate artificial intelligence to help modernize the sport.

Norway hasn't made a major appearance on the global stage since Euro 2000, and in a bold experiment, HamKam hoped to give Norwegian football a new edge.

The team joked that if a German could coach England, then AI could coach them. However, the results were questionable. HamKam took the lead from a penalty, using the AI's knowledge.

The club used a YouTube video that AI must be the smartest coach ever, answering every football question in real time with match data.

But things took a strange turn when AI decided to put the goalkeeper on the throw-in because he had bigger hands. He even went full attack with the 1-0-9 formation.

HamKam ended up losing 6-1, and their fans' suspicions about the AI ​​coach were confirmed. But, of course, it was all a joke and a marketing video for their sponsors, Eidsiva, a technology and energy company.

Martin Hoff Pederson, Senior Communications Advisor at Eidsiva, said: “It was interesting and reassuring to have our hypothesis confirmed: technology works best when it plays on the same team as people.”

"This project shows that technology alone doesn't cut it, especially in such a human-centric role. The human coach needs to return to the forefront now – and rightly so."

Mehran Ansari, HamKam's coach, added: "Football and technology are moving fast - and many teams are focusing on data sets and Moneyball. We wanted to see what would happen if we went all the way."
