Argentina icon explains why Ronaldo has always been better than Messi

Argentine icon Hugo Gatti has explained why Cristiano Ronaldo has always been better than Lionel Messi, but will never be considered the greatest player of all time.

Ronaldo recently, in an interview with La Sexta, did not hesitate to name himself as the best player of all time.

Gatti has come out against this statement, believing that Ronaldo has gone too far with the words he said.

"It is known to the public that for me, there has not been and there will not be one like Pele. Pele has no rival, he was something else. Cristiano was very good in recent times, but he is not close to Pele just like Maradona and Messi are not."

"But what he said has weight because he has been a champion of everything, a goalscorer and has played in the most important clubs in the world."

"It suits him well, he has more ego than me, but no, he is not the best player in history. After that, for me, it is Cruyff, Maradona, Ronaldinho and Di Stefano," Gatti said.

"In recent times, Cristiano has been more important than Messi. He has played for bigger clubs, he has been a bigger goalscorer, he has always taken risks."

"Cristiano was better than Messi and he is better now too. That is the reality. CR7 is playing a football that is not as good, but it is at a different speed and Messi is playing football at a state club."
