Apple is not interested in smart rings

Apple will focus on a smartwatch instead of a smart ring.

The CEO of Finnish health technology company Oura, Tom Hale, said that Apple will not introduce a smart ring, despite speculation that the iPhone maker may be considering a move into this product category, CNBC reported.

The Oura company has been developing smart rings since it was founded in 2013.

In an interview with CNBC at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Hale said that he thinks Apple is "not convinced of the value" of a ring and smartwatch in a joint project, meaning that they believe that producing a smartwatch will reduce the value of the smart Apple Watch, which is on the market.

"Apple is a very focused company. They say “we bet on the clock. We're going to make the watch our platform,'” Hale said.

A smart ring is a type of device with sensors that can provide the user with information about their health, activities and sleep.

They are lightweight and have a long battery life, so they can be worn all day, including while sleeping.
